For 20 years I worked as a dental hygienist, and I loved helping people. But I also kept noticing the same thing. Women, often my age, would show up exhausted, inflamed, and stressed. They clenched their jaws, breathed through their mouths, and wondered why they still felt terrible after a “full” night of sleep.
And truthfully, I was one of them.
For me, it started with fatigue, jaw tension, and coughing fits after meals. Eventually I traced it back to dysfunctional breathing and swallowing patterns I didn’t even know I had.
That discovery led me to orofacial myofunctional therapy, also called airway-focused myofunctional therapy. Suddenly the puzzle pieces clicked: breath, bite, body, digestion, posture. Once I saw the difference it made, I knew I couldn’t just treat teeth and ignore the rest.
I trained in airway-focused myofunctional therapy so I could help women uncover the root of their symptoms instead of just managing them.
